The record breaking World Youth Chess Championships is past round 9 and already eleven players have reached norms
The results so far confirm 7 new IM norms in the Open U18 section – FM Steven Zierk (USA) (interview with him here and here) , FM Angel Arribas Lopez (ESP), FM Pouya Idani (IRI), FM Ayaz Arzu Mammadov (AZE), Kambez Nuri (SUI), Vladimir Belous (RUS), and FM Koohestani (IRI).
Anastasiya Rakhmangulova (UKR), Zoi Iordanidou (GRE), and WFM Klaudia Kulon (POL) covered WIM norms in the Girls U18 section, while Anja Schulz (GER) covered a WIM norm in the Girls U16 section.
All norms are made in 9 games and have been confirmed by the chief arbiter Nikolopoulos. Certificates will be given during the closing ceremony. More players have the chance to take norms in the remaining two rounds, while the ones that already have IM and WIM norms can even reach GM and WGM norms to the end of the event.
